International Day of Mathematics (IDM)

The International Day of Mathematics (IDM) is a worldwide celebration. Each year on March 14 all countries will be invited to participate through activities for both students and the general public in schools, museums, libraries and other spaces. Please refer to the official website for more information.

2021 GLOBAL ONLINE CELEBRATION

Our live celebration of the International Day of Mathematics will take place in this website, and you're invited! All through the 48 hours of celebration (from its start as March 14 begins in Oceania) we will be liveblogging your pictures and videos from IDM events worldwide, posters, announcements and more. Join in on March 14 by posting on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the hashtag #idm314 and tagging the official IDM account.

LIVE TALKS WITH GUEST SPEAKERS

The main event in our online celebration will be a series of short talks for a general audience on mathematics and how it can make the world better. We will have sessions in three different languages: English, French, and Spanish. All talks will be streamed through this site, completely free and without any need to sign up.

MATHEMATICS FOR A BETTER WORLD POSTER CHALLENGE

In our Poster Challenge we asked you to create a poster using mathematics as a universal language, to communicate one idea of how to make the world a little bit better. We are thrilled to announce we received over 2100 creative and beautiful submissions from all over the world! This is a selection of some of the best posters we received. All through the 48 hours of our online celebration on March 14 we will share even more that we could not fit here!
